A few weeks ago I took part in a live chat with Mark Evans from Scuba Diver Magazine and my friend and Red Sea Photo Camp co-host Paul ‘Duxy’ Duxfield. We talked about among other things the quite different ways we got started in underwater photography, some of our favourite places to take pictures and some of the funniest moments we’ve had. Here’s the talk on YouTube and I’ll put some relevant links below. Hope you enjoy it.
The books mentioned during the chat are What a Fish Knows by Jonathan Balcombe, The Pisces Guide to Watching Fishes and Other Minds by Peter Godfrey-Smith.
Red Sea Photo Camp is an annual underwater photography workshop event that we run with Duxy at Red Sea Diving Safari’s Marsa Shagra resort. There will be a Red Sea Photo Camp 2021 in June.
We normally run classroom based underwater photography workshop and also photo editing workshops using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop near Manchester. These are currently on hold due to the Covid-19 situation but as soon. as possible we will resume them. For info about these go to our Events page or email us at info@alphamarinephoto.com
Duxy, myself and Anne all spoke on the photography stage at the Go Diving Show organised by the team who produce Scuba Diver Magazine this year and hopefully will be there again next year all being well.
Details of Duxy’s trips can be found on his Take It Easy website.
The dive site in the Maldives I couldn’t think of was Lankan, North Male atoll.
My little blog about doing test shots is ‘The most important shots you’ll take on diving trip’ and you can read all our underwater photography articles in Scuba Diver Magazine for free.
